If you’re unhappy with the aesthetics of your smile, veneers may be a cost-effective and simple way to boost your confidence and give you a smile you adore! Allow us to answer a couple frequently asked questions about veneers:
What are veneers?
The best way to describe veneers is by likening them to a shell. A tooth-colored shell is constructed to fit your tooth’s shape and desired color and bond them to your existing tooth. Veneers are great options for people who have teeth that are:
- Chipped
- Discolored
- Misaligned
- Spaced
- Uneven or irregularly shaped front teeth
- Worn down
What is the veneers process?
The veneers process is split between two appointments. The first appointment will be a consultation with Dr. Strandburg, discussing your options and determining if veneers are right for you. He will take your teeth’s measurements to create your veneers.
At your second appointment, Dr. Strandburg will shave down a thin layer of your teeth to create an optimal surface for veneers to be placed. This step is necessary for the veneers to truly bond to the tooth.
What type of veneers is right for me?
Dr. Strandburg uses porcelain veneers for his patients because of its high quality and durability. Porcelain veneers are more resistant to staining and cracking than veneers made of other materials. Most veneers can last up to a decade! If cracking occurs, it is possible to fix the veneer instead of replacing it entirely.
Can veneers be placed over tooth decay?
No, it is not wise to place veneers over teeth with decay because that would simply cover up the problem instead of fixing it. Tooth decay should be treated first, then a veneer can be applied if your dentist deems the tooth capable of supporting a veneer.
Dr. Strandburg is your premier veneers dentist!
