Myth 1: Root Canal Treatments are Extremely Painful
Many people believe that root canal treatments are painful; however, the opposite is true! If you choose to forego a root canal treatment, your infected tooth will continue to cause pain. Unfortunately, the pain doesn’t go away over time. It will only get worse if you don’t treat it.
Dr. Strandburg is highly skilled and has performed this treatment hundreds of times. He can effortlessly remove the infection from your tooth, causing the pain to disappear.
Myth 2: Tooth Extraction is the Only Way to Fix an Infection
We do not have to pull your tooth if the infection can be fixed by a root canal treatment. This treatment is necessary when the nerve of your tooth is infected or inflamed. There are multiple reasons why inflammation or infections occur such as deep decay, a crack in the tooth, or trauma to the tooth.
After the infection has been removed from your tooth, Dr. Strandburg will clean and disinfect the area. Afterwards, he will seal the tooth with inert, biocompatible material. Your tooth will look and feel much better after the treatment is finished.
How do I know if I need a root canal treatment?
Over time, your tooth will tell you that there is something wrong. You may feel a variety of symptoms such as:
- A dull ache or throbbing
- A white bump on the gums
- Sensitivity to hot or cold temperatures
- Severe pain when chewing or applying pressure to the tooth
- Swelling or sensitivity in the area
- Tooth discoloration
Be proactive and don’t delay! Contact us today to schedule an appointment if you are experiencing any of these symptoms.
